Instead of continuing to talk about the problem, I decided to become part of the solution.
I raised my daughter on the sidelines. Then I looked around.
As a single mother, I raised my daughter through years of dance, cheerleading, competitions, and travel. I saw firsthand how those opportunities build confidence, discipline, leadership, and ambition.
Making them possible took co-parenting support, help from grandparents, fundraisers, and constant budgeting. And the more I talked with other parents, the clearer it became: families all around me wanted the same for their kids, and they simply couldn't afford it.
What it often takes just to say yes:
- Co-parenting support, when it's available
- Help from grandparents and family
- Fundraisers and sponsorships
- Sacrifices and constant budgeting
